Three years ago we began working with the Rocky
Mountain Great Dane Rescue which services Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, Utah, and Wyoming in taking in unwanted Great Danes
and adopting them to loving homes. I knitted and donated a custom Great Dane custom knit sweater for Bishop, a
Dane that could not be adopted due to a terminal illness. Unfortunately Bishop passed away. I was amazed at how hard these
volunteers worked taking in more than one dog when needed. I contribute a portion of my proceeds for any Great Dane
knit wool coats I sell on this site if you mention that you are coming through the RMGDR. If you can donate
please see their web site at www.rmgreatdane.org.
Through my association with the rescue I met other
Great Dane lovers who adore their pets and wanted Great Dane knit wool coats. We specialize in the
Great Dane custom knit sweater. All sweaters are custom,
can be made in a conservative style or a modified Dress Up Dog custom sweaters style or a frilly
Dogs Dress fancy sweater style. We have an example of a Dress style on the Great Dane Sweater page.
The following Great Dane pictures are examples of some the Great Dane knit wool coats
we have made.

Perhaps a little information
is needed as to why these pets need Great Dane knit wool coats. The consequences of not using
a Great Dane custom knit sweater in cold weather is that the dog can
develop hypothermia. While extra large-dog coats are difficult to find locally, Great Dane clothing is readily available on
the Internet and should be used for all Danes in cold climates. Great Dane knit wool coats should
be used for older dog and dogs with arthritis in the house. If you notice your dog shivering, lethargic during winter, and
moving slowly in the fall and winter you should definitely consider getting your dog a Dane sweater. We make our custom coats
from 100% wool, which makes Danes warm as well as easy for the owner to put the coats on and off.

The Snapback style (shown as a Great Dane Custom Knit Sweater ) covers the underside of our 4-legged friend which
is important in keeping the dog warm. This style fastens on the top of the sweater with magnetic snaps covered
with crocheted buttons as shown in Jamie's photo.

All sweaters are made custom sized based on our measuring chart. The sweater will fit properly around the neck which is generally a problem with a
Great Dane Sweater. The sweater will also fit the dog's shape.

This is Kona in her
peach tweed snapback Great Dane Knit Wool Sweater. Notice how you
can accent the color of your dog with the color of the yarn. Her owner chose a tweed color yarn with a matching plain yarn
for accent. (See our online color chart.) The standard Custom Knit Dog Sweater Coats are an example of how you can make your dog be different and stylish without extra
embellishments. However, you can do a more conservative sweater accenting the color of your dog whether your dog's color is
a Blue, Harequin, Mantle, Fawn, Brindle or Black. Conservative colors are black, grey, browns, etc. The pastels like Kona's
make very bright cute sweaters.
