If you want a sweater, you must measure the dog in order for it to fit properly. This page shows you how to measure for the products we offer. We have a separate page for pricing. When you order from us I will call you to discuss the item to make sure we agree on the specifics of what is to be made. On fancy sweaters I will have to give you a price after I understand all the details you want.

Instructions for measuring

The last two measurements are best accomplished with the pet in a sitting position while most of the others require that the pet be standing.

Make the session as easy on the pet as possible. If the pet is trying to break-dance, the measurements will go wrong.

All of the measurements are important to a good fit. Numbers 5, 6, and 7 should receive an extra glance.

Measure twice and make it once is always the best.

Here are some hints:

  • 1. Chest: the chest should always be measured at the largest part of the chest.
  • 2. Leg Hole: should always be measured at the largest circumference of the leg.
  • 3. Leg to Elbow is from the "underarm" to the first joint of the leg.
  • 4. Neck works best if it's from the base of the neck. If the dog has a really big head, please say so.
  • 5. Neck to Leg is from the collar to the top of the front of the leg. Critical
  • 6. Neck to Sternum is from the collar area to the notch where the rib cage turns into the "tummy." Critical
  • 7. Neck to Tail is from the collar to the base of the tail along the back. Critical
  • 8. The harness hole is from the top of the collar and down to the neck area wherever you want to put it
  • 9. Usually dogs are smaller in the back than in the front. This measurement is the circumference around the back next to the legs so that the sweater can be tapered and have a better fit.
